Story:
Before I can stop you, you reach out your hand towards the bees, captivated and determined to touch.
I grab your arm and pull you back.
'Careful, now, they sting,' I gently warn you, but still you point, enchanted.
I watch with you and fall under their spell. Step back, and they blend with the flowers, velvety bright colours and nothing more.
Step forward and they are a picture of quiet industry, their concentration complete, our presence not even the slightest distraction.
I want to regale you with facts, to tell you about queen bees and nurse bees and hives, about pots of honey found in Egyptian tombs, about pollination and the food that we eat.
But I bite my tongue.
For now, it's enough that you're watching in wonder.
No, not just enough; it's everything.
