The Visitors

Birds, butterflies, poppies and a fountain in an original landscape painting.

Story: This corner of the park is quiet, far from the roads and not near any of the main walking routes. You'll find yourself here if you follow a well-trodden path that cuts through the grass and leads to a fountain. And if you come here on a hot summer day and you're lucky, you might meet the visitors.

'It's just where I told you it would be, you see, the perfect place for a sip of water on a hot day!'

'I can't believe I didn't know about this place – but I guess it is tucked away.'

'I must admit I don't really come here in winter. I tend to prefer the brambles when the weather is cold, but at this time of year the colours are so pretty, and we're really safe up here with the trees in full leaf, so why not?'

'Why not, indeed? And I can see the butterflies are here as well.'

'Well, in such a beautiful place, we would hardly be the only ones here, would we?'

'I expect there'll be people here once in a while too, won't there?'

'Yes, they do show up from time to time, come along that path through the grass, they do, but as long as they bring us some nuts and seeds, I don't mind them, don't mind them at all!'
