Story: When I bought the house, the garden was mine. But then I got a kitten. She was no more than a little ball of black fur back then, but she didn't let her diminutive size stand in the way of staking a claim to the place she'd decided would be her fiefdom. Within moments she found her favourite spot, that place under the tree with the perfect mix of sunshine and shade. I see her sitting there now, a full-grown cat, elegant and aloof. My kitchen window affords me a good view, and I can tell she's watching something. I wonder if it's a butterfly. If she raises a paw and takes a swipe, I'll know for sure. She's always been a huntress.
