Story: It stands alone on the edge of the lake, a simple structure whose stated purpose is only the storage of rowing boats, most of which will remain out of commission until summer comes round again, one or two left out on the water for those like me who return here to sail towards a line of trees whose leaves are turning to red and gold, to a soundtrack of the caws of gulls riding the thermals overhead, when the air is bracing and there's always a risk of rain. But I wonder if those who walk past and see only a humble shed know it's my constant, remaining as it ever was as the landscape changes with the whims of nature, the point where my journeys of peace and calm and beauty start and end.
