Story: When I'm here and the sky is blue and the grasses are tall and the wild flowers are in bloom, I forget about winter. I mean it. I forget what it feels like to be cold. I forget about chapped lips and heavy boots. I forget about early darkness and hammering rain. I don't know how it happens. Maybe it's something to do with the feel of the sun on my face. Or the sight of the bright blue sky. Or the way the grasses tickle my ankles as I walk. Or the scent of wild flowers. Or do you think the butterflies might practise some kind of strange magic? I suspect it might be a trick I play on myself. I think perhaps I just want to believe that it might be forever summer.
