We came here at this hour because they said this place was even more beautiful by night.
We'd been headed straight for the bridge, but spied ripples and on the water from our vantage point on high ground and descended to the riverbank for a closer look.
We stood there together in silence, looking at the water, and then, in the peace, we saw them: fish, dancing below the surface, as if the quiet of night had allowed them the freedom to play.
I squeezed your hand when I saw them, delighted at our discovery, and we stood there together in a place that seemed magical, not just beautiful, but suddenly full of unexpected wonder.
