Story: Love started here. We took the alleyway as a shortcut to reach the lights of the main road, and you grabbed my hand in the dark. And I drew you close to me. I remember you said I made you feel safe. That was when my heart began to soar. Our love grew slowly. Dinner and a movie. A picnic in the park. Your best friend's birthday party. Meeting the parents – mine nearby; yours far away. Finishing each other's sentences. Laughing until we cried. It was a long time before life brought us back this way, and when it did, everything here had changed. Grimy stonework was now clean. Buildings, once abandoned, now set the scene for family life. And this alleyway, once dark and bare, was festooned with flowers and flooded with light. I think love changes the things it touches. This place of ours now looks like our lives.
