Story: Lighted windows wink at me through the moonlight, welcoming me back, and I know you're upstairs, making up my bed with freshly laundered sheets. This place is summer to me: days spent in the sunshine, surrounded by the brightly coloured flowers of the garden; nights passed curled up next to you on the sofa, listening to your stories and telling you my dreams. Over years you've taught me history – but not the kind that's written in books. Every summer you share with me your memories of family and love. And surrounded by the souvenirs of your life so well lived, I know with perfect certainty there's somewhere I'll always belong. Summer means feeling warm and safe and free. You made sure of that for me.
