The Ballroom in the Sky

Original painting of the tiny figure of a woman dancing against a sparkly abstract background.

Story: The first time it happened, the hour was late and I'd been working hard, trying to meet a deadline. I finished on time by the skin of my teeth, and I felt giddily happy, relieved and suddenly full of energy when just moments before I'd been bone-tired. And I floated all the way up to the ballroom in the sky. I danced until morning, sparkling like one of the stars in the sort of beautiful dress I'd never imagined could be mine. Now it happens all the time. When I get unexpected good news, for example. Or when lots of things in short succession go exactly my way. It sometimes even happens when I simply remember how blessed I am, even if I've just suffered through a very bad day. The ballroom in the sky is no big secret. It's a place where anyone can celebrate. And it's pretty easy to get there once you figure out the way.
