Spring's Guardians

Fairies with delicate gossamer wings tend to spring blossoms.

Story: Suddenly the weather has gone from scarf-and-boots cold to sandals-and-sunglasses warm, even though it's only weeks since winter melted away. Tiny blossoms in pastel shades decorate the tree branches, spring's fragile filigree jewellery, and three tiny fairies have risked it all to to protect the precious flowers, life itself the currency of their gamble. A cold front, and they will disappear, their gossamer wings unable to withstand the chill in the air.

You might wish they hadn't done it and fear for them. But if you say a word to chastise them for their actions, they will say they see a difference between just being alive and really living, and issue their challenge: take a chance, do what you were born to do, and be extraordinary.
