Symphony

Original fantasy painting of a woman surrounded by larger-than-life butterflies.

Story: Her thoughts come rapidly, a relentless assault against peace of mind, and she escapes to sit at the edge of the balcony and close her eyes for a moment. How is it that the tiniest sliver of information can tilt your world on its axis, lifting you from solid ground to the top of a helter-skelter, your heart tumbling, tumbling? And so she blocks out the world and its cacophony, for she hears only noise and no music at all, and she wants quiet.

And where before she was trembling, now she's no longer cold. And, senses dulled, she's impervious to the wind that whips her long hair around her face, unaware of the goosebumps that dot her bare arms. But when nothing can touch you, you hear only silence, missing the major chords as well as the minor, missing the happy songs as well as the sad. And if a thousand butterflies landed next to you and your eyes were closed, you wouldn't see them.

So give her time, for all wounds heal; all hearts open. And once again, she will hear the symphony.
