Story: A cottage once stood here, right in this spot, protected by the canopy of trees. It was nothing special to look at, neither grand nor imposing. But it was a home, warm and filled with love, the kind of place that envelops people and keeps them safe. Though it was the place of my birth, I have no memory of living here, yet I have a sense when I come here that it is where I belong. One day I will rebuild the cottage, and it will be humble yet beautiful, with the sort of door that welcomes people in rather than shutting them out. I can't do it yet, but my moment will come. For now, I stand on what were once the front steps and light a candle. I light it for the past and for the future. With this candle, I tell all the world that I have come home.
