Story: It lies in a puddle on the floor, shimmering white silk trimmed in black, at once ethereal and substantial. You are gone from here now, but the scarf you abandoned when I asked you to dance somehow summons up your presence, and for a brief second you are in my arms again. I shake my head and lean over to pick up the scarf, but the fine fabric slips through my fingers. And perhaps that is the way with beautiful things: if you aren't careful, they escape you. I try again. This time I am purposeful, folding slowly until I find myself holding a neat square that I need to return to a woman who almost slipped away.
