Butterfly Inside

A butterfly prepares to alight on a vase of flowers. Original painting in acrylic.

Story: I'm certain I shouldn't be here, but I've yet to detect how I might make my escape. I wonder if I might rest, just for a little while. My wings are weary, and I wonder if it might be safe to alight upon these flowers for a short time, if they might offer me sustenance. They do not grow in a way I understand, but they are the thing most familiar to me here, and although my wings are too bright to blend in with their petals, I think that if I rest only briefly, my presence might go unnoticed.
