Story:
Everyone has something that is natural to them, a talent that flows from every pore.
And I had thought mine was dancing; ballet, to be specific.
Until the grand jeté, that is.
I had tried 100 times, and I sat on the floor, frustrated.
'Did you think it would be easy?' asked my instructor. 'Do you think Margot Fonteyn gave up and sat on the floor?'
'But I've tried 100 times!' I protested.
'I thought you wanted to be a ballerina,' he said, 'but if you give up the first time something is difficult...'
So I tried again, time 101. It was not perfect that time, not yet. But I got it eventually.
And today I am a ballerina.
