After a night's sleep it seems less real to me, and as I look out at the trees, I play it like a film in my mind, searching for certainty.

I can see the dressing room, the finely embroidered tutu, feel the soft satin of the bodice and the stiff tulle of the skirt.
My fingers stumble as I tie the ribbons of my shoes, a task that should be familiar and easy, but I am nervous.
Then I am on the stage, and first it is dark and then flooded with light, and involuntarily I stretch my legs, for soon I will be in motion.
Music drowns out the silence, and I fly across the stage, and it is effortless and beautiful and real, so real I could never entertain the slightest doubt.

							That is the memory.
