Story: We arrived here baby birds in pink satin slippers, each one of us certain that she had wings, each one of us determined to learn how to fly. And it took practice and grit and patience and courage, but now we are ready. So tonight we will soar high and swoop low in black tutus, graceful silhouettes against a vast blue sky. Ballet is neither easy nor forever, and we can only be dancers for a very short time. But for now we are swallows and this is our summer. For now, we are ballerinas. This is our time.
