Story: They are shadows, all of them graceful, all of them beautiful, all of them unforgettable. Inspiring me. Challenging me. The role that I dance tonight is an old one, mine in this moment, but received as a gift from the ballerinas before me and held in trust for those who are yet to come. Every step I will dance was carefully recorded long ago, the entire ballet preserved with a notated score. And I am charged with honouring the past while creating the present. As the soft hands of shadows push me towards the bright stage lights, over the orchestra I hear a fierce whisper, the words all of them know I need to hear. They trust me with their legacy and bless me with freedom. Make it your own.
