Story: I can't help but reach out to touch the rose petals, soft and velvety, as I walk in the door, and their sweet scent lingers on my fingertips. I know I shouldn't allow the flowers to work their magic on me, but already I am falling in love with the house, allowing myself to imagine summers when the fragrance of this climbing rose will be my signature scent. I must force myself to wear a poker face as I am shown around. I mask my smile with a stern look as I take in the bay window that fills the front room with light. I am silent while I imagine filling the back garden with quirky planters, each one bursting with life. I pretend I don't almost hear the happy clatter of pots and pans as I enter the kitchen. I remain taciturn as I picture myself soaking in the claw-foot tub surrounded by candles. I conceal my delight at the thought of curling up to sleep in the bedroom on the very top floor. I walk out of the house quickly, giving no clue as to my intentions. But already I know I have found my forever home.
