Story: Tonight you're coming home, and I want you to know how I've missed you. I want you to know what can't be said in texts or emails or conversations of a thousand words. I've made all your favourites, and aromas waft from the kitchen, a bottle of champagne chilling on ice. I wear the dress I wore the night we said goodbye, the one you love in shades of silver and gold. But still something is missing, the usual accoutrements of welcome not equal to your homecoming. So I string lights around the door, a statement of my celebration, lights round your return in place of the dark of your absence. Because tonight you're coming home.
