Story: My desk is almost bare. I believe that physical clutter interferes with my thoughts, forcing them to travel in circles instead of the straight lines I favour. But I have made one concession to beauty. I place the blank pages that I have yet to fill with words on the smooth wooden surface of my desk and watch the familiar effect of the light. I shall write, as always, in the shadow of an orchid.
